Halloween Candy Buyback

Got a whole bunch of leftover Halloween candy that you're tempted by, but should really avoid? Check out Halloween Candy Buyback. Here's how participating dentists will work the deal:
"We buy back Halloween candy from neighborhood kids for $1 per pound, then send it to the troops overseas! What a great way to brighten the day of an American soldier."
Less temptation, less cavities, less calories, less sugar, less sugar madness. Sometimes, less is more.

Our dentist does sort of the same thing, but instead of cash the kids get an electric toothbrush (cheap one, I'm sure) and get their name put in a drawing for something else...ipod, maybe? We didn't get rid of our candy that way, however...our town does a candy-giveback where candy is sent oversees to the troops.

Thanks for sharing. I've never heard of this before, but I think it's great that there are various efforts accomplishing the same goal. There's so much candy doled out on one day of the year...way too much for any kid, regardless of age. This is a lovely way to teach about sharing, portion control, and being a member of the community.
